Education
Ross is an experienced teacher in multiple styles and has taught students of all ages and abilities. He ran a private studio in Missoula, Montana for three years and is now accepting new students in the Tampa Bay area and online. He is dedicated to helping students improve their musical skills at the highest level. Lessons are $25/half hour and $35/hour. Ross also teaches lessons at Tota Music and Theatre Conservatory and Rockatar Music Academy in Tampa, Florida.
Ross also has a great deal of teaching experience with jazz ensembles of all levels. He currently directs Jazz Band II at Plant High School and Jazz Ensemble II at USF in Tampa, Florida. He has also worked with groups such as UM Jazz band III, multiple UM small groups, Sentinel High School Jazz Band and Whitefish High School small groups. Commission a Piece
Ross is an experienced composer and has written and arranged hundreds of different pieces of music ranging from big band to sax quartet to orchestra. Most recently, he has been composing works for his brand new group, The Ross Strauser Jazz Orchestra. He has also presented at the ISJAC Jazz Composer's Symposium in Austin, Texas in May of 2022 and was a winner of the 2023 Composition Contest at Ithaca College.
